Be self-ambulatory

Be eligible for funding through their local social work department or have funding in place (SDS or Self-funding)
Applications for any Edge service can ONLY be accepted via the referral form linked below
Please visit the service-specific pages for more information regarding specific eligibility criteria for each of our services.
Types of Onboarding
We work closely with several local authorities and appreciate they all operate in slightly different ways. As such, we are happy to be flexible in our approach and work with them to ensure a smooth onboarding process for all young people using our services.
Social Work Referrals
We work closely with and accept referrals from, the following local authorities Edinburgh, East Lothian, Midlothian, The Scottish Borders and West Lothian.
Our 1:1 support services catchment area is reflective of this with some geographical restrictions in place.
Self Directed Support
Self Directed Support, or SDS, is available to those who have had an assessment by their local authority and are deemed to require additional support to enable them to become independent and lead a fulfilling life through informed decision-making and fully supported experiences.
Once your Social Worker agrees on the amount of support you are eligible for, we can work with you to provide a service that fits your budget and support needs.
Self-Funding
All of our services are available to purchase without a referral from your local authority or social worker if you are funding the support yourself.
If applicable, contracts need to be in place before services from Edge Group Scotland are commissioned and a young person is onboarded for support of any kind.
A contract is an agreement between the funding authority (local authority e.g., East Lothian), the service provider (Us/Edge Group Scotland Ltd) and the supported young person.
