Aviemore is a year round destination with snowsports being by far the most popular winter activity. Badaguish Forest Lodges are our official partners and you will be staying in a magnificent 12-bed lodge, with exclusive use of the activity hall, and access to their dedicated sports arena and old bothy BBQ hut - a great place to cook marshmallows over an open fire! Activities include skiing, tubing, adventure cycling and quad-biking on this adventure.
Come join us for an adventure in the stunning Cairngorms.
Your highland adventure begins. Meet your staff at Edge in Musselburgh, load up the buses and head off to your Aviemore Lodge. All that’s left to do today is settle in, get to know your fellow adventurers, grab some dinner and get ready for the exciting adventures ahead.
You will be skiing (learning to ski) in your teams. One team will go out in the AM and one in the PM. The first day is all about meeting your instructors, discussing ability. DSUK will decide whether we ski on snow or on the dry slope, depending entirely on the Scottish weather. The Cairngorm Mountain resort is located on Scotland's 6th highest mountain offering unforgettable snow sports and picturesque panoramic views.
Lessons: you will receive one lesson per day either in the morning or afternoon (depending on your team). Lessons will last approximately two hours and will be provided by DSUK Instructors. There are a limited number of snowboarding instructors, so if you would like to snowboard please highlight this at the time of booking with Edge Adventures.
All participants will be working towards their 'UK Snowlife Ski Awards', starting in the Green Zone (if it's your first time) or working on Blue Zones and upwards (if you've been to Edge Ski Club*** or have ski experience).
***Edge Ski Club runs in 6-session blocks throughout the year at Hillend - find out more about our Ski Clubs here.
The Cairngorms has an incredible network of trails, right on our doorstep at Badaguish. Do not worry if you cannot ride a 2-wheel bicycle, Able 2 Adventure has mountain trikes, tandems and hand cycles. We will visit the famous Loch an Eileen or ride into a mountain bothy on your trike at Ryvoan Pass.
This will be an active day, but there will be lots of stopping to check out the scenery - this is not a race. We will have a picnic en-route (supplied by Kenny from 305). There are a number of accessible toilets that can be planned into your ride on route or can act as the start/finish point. Instructors are trained in track side repairs and are Level 2 Mountain Bike Trail Leaders.
Hairy coos and possibly red squirrels!Join us for an inspiring outdoor adventure. Our quad bike treks follow a network of tracks and off-road trails through the magnificent ancient pine woodland and across the heather moorland of this traditional Highland estate with spectacular views of the surrounding mountain landscape. Look out for the estate’s herd of long-horned Highland cows with the chance of seeing wild deer and other local wildlife along the way. The treks are led by experienced and fully trained professional guides who are happy to stop at particularly impressive viewpoints and indicate areas of special interest. There are plenty of photo opportunities – don’t forget to bring a camera! There will be a 10.30am and a 1.30pm treks - you will be taken out in your group.
Again, taken out in your groups (morning or afternoon), you will continue to work towards your certificates while having an absolute laugh with the gang. If conditions allow you will be on snow, either the real thing or snow made on the mountain. You will be working on snow-ploughing, skiing on short ski runs, controlling your speed and much more.
Last Day Skiing. You will continue to work towards your certificates today - this is the last day skiing, so use everything you've got. If conditions allow you will be on snow, either the real thing or snow made on the mountain.
CEREMONY DAY - Be presented with your UK Snowlife Awards certificates and badges, by DSUK, at a private awards ceremony.
Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened.
Load the vehicles and head home after breakfast.
