Fuerteventura, the second largest of Spain’s Canary Islands, sits in the Atlantic Ocean 100km off the north coast of Africa. It’s known primarily as a holiday destination due to its white-sand beaches and year-round warmth cooled by constant winds. The multitude of beaches that wrap around it are interrupted by cliffs and sheltered coves. It’s popular for water sports, especially surfing, windsurfing and water-skiing.
Come join us in the stunning Canary Islands
Upon landing at Fuerteventura Airport, your dedicated Edge staff will take you to our trusted transfer partner in the arrivals hall. You will arrive at your hotel in about 30 minutes. Once you arrive and off load at the hotel, your Edge staff will help get you checked in, find your room and get comfortable. Once you are unpacked and settled, it is time to relax! Your Edge staff will be waiting by the pool downstairs when you are ready to discover Corralejo.
Get to know Corralejo or hang by the pool
This is a great day to get to know all about the excellent facilities at your hotel. There is a programme of daily activities designed with wellness in mind, so why not try something new?
- Fitness classes
- Sun umbrellas
- Sun loungers or beach chairs
This day is all about relaxation and feeling good, so you could enjoy some meditation, gentle aerobics or yoga. Sun seekers will want to check out the resort’s 2 swimming pools, one is heated and one is salt-water. If you need any help, just ask your Edge Team, who will be there to make sure you feel completely taken care of.
Explore Corralejo town
Let’s begin with the climate – Thanks to Fuerteventura’s year-round warm climate, the average sea temperature for the waters around the island is 19°C during May. The only thing that can be mentioned as a minus would be the winds. The name of the island means “Strong Wind” but there’s nothing dangerous in that, so the windy weather can’t cloud your vacation. The temperatures are in the range of 35 degrees, so that is ideal for your summer vacation and your body tan. Even in the winter the lowest temperature is 18 degrees.
What to find around the town
The old Corralejo Town is built around a harbour, so you can see many local fishermen around here. You can see how the locals catch fish and you have the chance to buy some fish. In the area of the new town, there’s a new marina bay, so the enthusiasts who want to visit the other islands, like Lanzarote and Lobos, are free to do it. There’s a main street in the town. You can find most of the shops, restaurants, and bars presented in the town there.
What to eat and what to do
Restaurants that serve a wide variety of foods make eating out easier – Spanish, British, Chinese, Irish, and Italian foods. There are many places where seafood is offered. The restaurants are along the Corralejo main street and everyone can choose where to go and what to eat.
Surf School or Chill
Corralejo Surf School
“Everyone should try surfing at least once in their life … it will be an experience you will never forget”
We will teach you to understand the culture, history, philosophy and rules of surfing. We will teach you to surf and everything about the world of surfing, so that later our students can surf independently. The conditions vary from one beach to another, depending on the tides, the breakers ……, and we teach to understand the sea in all its dimensions and complexity, to be able to surf around the world with guarantees. You will learn stretching, warm-ups, and breathing before entering the water. You will learn all the safety rules, to enjoy from the beginning to the fullest, but with total confidence.
In the morning you can visit the local town of Puerto del Carmen, where you can peruse the many shops and grab a coffee overlooking the wonderful sea views. The charming Old Town Harbour still has the atmosphere of the fishing town that the resort developed from, as well as the delicious sea food to go with it! To prove it, in the afternoon we will be treating you to a cookery class, exploring some of Lanzarote’s Culinary delights!
Surf School or ‘do your own thing’
This break is about you, the price of Surf School is included in this adventure, however, you can choose to do your own thing. Just let your Edge staff know what you would like to do, where you will be going and when you will be back. You are more than welcome to lie about with a book by the pool or engage in some serious retail therapy in downtown Corralejo.
Beach or Surf School
Your Edge staff will guide you to the local beach! After you’ve topped up your tan and made a splash, head over to one of the beachside bars to cool off with a refreshing drink and stunning views over the Atlantic.
El Cotillo and La Concha Beach – this will be arranged locally and purchased individually
Your visit to Fuerteventura wouldn’t be complete without a visit to the enchanting village of El Cotillo. El Cotillo is on the northern tip of the island and offers lots of goodies in which to indulge. Do you love seafood? This small village has many great seafood restaurants you can enjoy at any time of the day. You’ll also see La Concha beach, which is like a tropical paradise.
or LAST day Surf School
Relaxation and Retail Therapy
Our final day in Corralejo is your last chance to experience the unique wellness services on offer at this amazing resort. Perhaps you’ll wake up with some invigorating yoga then pamper yourself with a massage or a beauty treatment. There is so much to choose from to ensure you go home feeling fantastic inside and out! In the afternoon you can join your Edge team for a last trip into the local town, to stock up on some local treats and souvenirs, or just have a last stroll along the seafront.
